Helios Innovations was founded in 2017 and develops modular, electric technology that makes industrial waste management simple.
From idea to industrial scale
Helios Innovations was originally founded with the goal of reducing the industry's drinking water consumption by desalinating seawater. The technology was developed and validated at industrial scale in Halmstad, but could not compete with the price of tap water. Thanks to a customer asking if the technology could treat liquid waste, the company shifted its focus to cleaning contaminated process water, and since then Helios has grown to become a leading player in the Nordic waste industry.
2017
The idea is born. Our founder, Jonatan Persson, develops the first prototypes for seawater purification through his young enterprise company, Helios Innovations UF.
2020
The technology is tested on an industrial scale through seawater desalination projects together with the Municipality of Halmstad and local industries, where more than 50,000 liters of water were purified per day.
2021
The first laboratory-scale tests for liquid waste purification are conducted, and the company shifts its focus toward waste treatment.
2022
The first large-scale pilot plants for waste treatment are tested in Halmstad and Malmö.
2023
Commercial purification of process water begins at central treatment facilities in Halmstad.
2024
Large-scale purification of firefighting foam begins, and by the end of the year approximately 70% of all firefighting foam in Sweden is treated using Helios technology.
2025
Our on-site purification facility, CONTESS, is launched. By the end of the year, we have grown from 3 to 9 facilities and are purifying water from half a dozen different industries.

For Helios, this means managing and recycling water on-site to eliminate unnecessary transport, maximizing the recovery of both concentrate and purified water, and contributing to a new mindset within the industry where contaminated water is not seen as waste, but as a resource.
