Helios CEO Jonatan Persson becomes national winner "SKAPA-talent for young innovators", for his work with Helios Innovations

Nov 21, 2024

The SKAPA Prize is Sweden's largest innovation prize, awarded to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to innovation and the development of commercial products and services. The prize was established in memory of Alfred Nobel to encourage inventors and entrepreneurs.

On November 8, it was announced that Helios Innovation's CEO Jonatan Persson was the winner of the SKAPA award in Halland. A week later, on November 14, he represented Halland in the national competition in Stockholm. Here he took home the first prize of "SKAPA talent for young innovators".

The jury's motivation reads:

"Fresh water is in short supply in many places on our planet. Water is essential for all life on earth, but it also has many other uses besides drinking. For example, water is an important component in large parts of the process industry. However, water that is contaminated in processes and can no longer be used without extensive treatment is a problem. Extensive and expensive transportation to treatment plants and energy-consuming purification processes are today's reality. But what if it were possible to purify industrial process water on site in industry and that the purification was done in such an energy-efficient way that residual heat from existing industrial processes could be used to power the purification? This is exactly what Jonatan Persson has done. With his solution, industrial wastewater can be treated on site in industry using its residual heat. With Jonatan Persson's innovation, the transport of thousands of cubic meters of residual water to off-site treatment plants can be avoided and the treated water can be reused in the industrial process.

Helios Innovations - Residual heat contributes to energy efficiency, is good for the environment and reduces the use of our vital resource, fresh water.

This is why the inventor of Helios Innovation, Jonatan Persson, is awarded the "SKAPA Talent for Young Innovators 2024" prize.
